Important: This is a private reference service, not a government office. It cannot confirm custody or release, post bond, release anyone, or retrieve official booking records. For those actions, contact the public office that owns the record directly.
Official Record Contacts
Choose the office by the question being asked. The sheriff handles courthouse functions and public-safety information, the prison handles county custody and prison-held records, and the county right-to-know route handles records requests. Each has a separate role.

For a police-created report or image, send a narrow request to the agency that created it. For a prison intake record, use the prison records route. The Montour County open-records page provides the county form and describes inspection, electronic, paper, and certified-copy choices. It also advises requesters about potential costs.
- For a recent agency announcement, use the Montour CRIMEWATCH arrests page; it is not a complete jail roster.
- For a court case, docket, hearing, or disposition, use the UJS Portal and, when needed, the Prothonotary/Clerk of Courts at 253 Mill Street, Danville, 570-271-3010.
- For state prison or parole status after a sentence, use the PA DOC Inmate Locator, not the county jail route.
- For federal custody, use the BOP Inmate Locator. It does not serve as a Montour County booking search.
- For immigration detention, use the ICE Online Detainee Locator; federal immigration custody is separate from county criminal custody.
